Andreas Olsson lives in Stockholm, Sweden. He grew up on the wrestling mat. He usually won because he always gives 100% in everything he does. He also played the violin as a child. You might think that classical music and wrestling don't have much to do with swing dancing, but it has definitely contributed to him becoming the unpredictable, creative, musical and interesting dancer he is today.
Andrea's international teaching career began in the mid-2000s. Since then he has taught Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, Balboa, St. Louis Shag, Collegiate Shag and other swing dances all over the world. As a dancer, Andreas is known for his unique style, creativity and musicality. He considers himself a swing dancer first and foremost and emphasizes the importance of today's dancers learning a little bit of all swing dances.
As a dance teacher, Andreas has a warm and pleasant approach to his students. He is known for his ability to convey the dances in an understandable way through imaginative exercises and teaching content.
Neus and Albert began dancing and training together in July 2015. Soon after, they began teaching weekly Balboa classes in Barcelona and abroad, developing a shared desire to learn more and expand the scene. They quickly developed a common language that promotes fluid, dynamic communication between them. This has led to a partner dance technique in which both partners are equal. The focus is on social dancing, improvisation, and the philosophical and human elements of dance, while respecting the fundamentals of Balboa in its original form. This is balanced dancing.
Albert has been dancing since childhood. Then, one magical evening in 2000, he was invited to try swing dancing between waltzes on Plaça del Rei in Barcelona. That was the moment he started dancing Lindy Hop. Enthused by swing dancing, he discovered Balboa in 2005, and towards the end of 2006, Gloria and he began teaching this wonderful dance locally and expanding the scene in Barcelona. In 2011, we began teaching international workshops, and in June 2014, during a competition in the US, I had a personal crisis that made me question whether the way I dance is consistent with who I am and how I feel about partner dancing. That's when I decided to take a different path.
Neus discovered swing by chance in Barcelona's Parc de la Ciutadella. She was captivated by the music and partner dancing, and in 2007 she began taking Lindy Hop classes, then solo jazz, and in 2009 she added Balboa. She shares her passion in jams, at swing events and competitions, trains, DJs, dances in shows, and teaches—always searching for everything that can be expressed and discovered through swing. For Neus, a successful day is a day when she has the privilege of dancing and learning something new!
Lucía and Javi have been dancing and teaching together abroad since 2014, mainly in their home country of Spain. They run the Black Bottom Swing Dance Studio in Valencia with more than 400 students and also organize the Balboa Festival in Valencia. With their refined technique, musicality, and style, they have won many competitions at international festivals, such as the European Balboa Festival.
In their classes, they focus on partnership and creating a harmonious flow while dancing, playing, and responding to each other as a couple. They provide students with the tools that both "Leader" and "Follower" can use to communicate and create their own steps and variations together. For them, dancing is a constant game with the music and the joy of jazz dance in its purest form. Get ready for challenging and entertaining lessons with them!
