The finest swing from Paris and Chicago.
As a lover of 1950s and 1960s jazz and blues, Parisian guitarist and singer Lucas Montagnier founded the Lucas Montagnier Organ Trio in 2016. Together with organist Clement Prioul and drummer Pascal Mucci, the Band revives the golden age of this iconic lineup Band original compositions and standards (Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery, Ray Charles, Jack McDuff).
In 2018, Lucas Montagnier and American saxophonist Sam Burckhardt recorded their first album together, *Lucas Montagnier/Sam Burckhardt* (Airway Records), in Chicago. Their second album asLeader, *Live in Paris*, is set to be released in late 2025.
Together, they have performed at clubs in Paris (Caveau de la Huchette, Le Melville, Sunset…) as well as in the United States and Switzerland.
Sam Burckhardt comes from an old Basel family and has lived in Chicago since 1982, where he was invited by the legendary blues pianist Sunnyland Slim. He was a permanent member of Slim’s Band until the latter’s death in 1995. Sam was a founding member of the successful neo-swing group The Mighty Blue Kings and has played with numerous greats of Chicago blues and jazz throughout his career, including Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins, Jimmy Rogers, and Zora Young. In 2008, he was honored with the Swiss Blues Award, and in 2016, he was a finalist for the Swiss Jazz Award.
