Accommodation tips

If you would like to stay with a local dancer (hosting), you can indicate this in the registration form. We will try to organize a place for you to sleep, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee this. Otherwise we recommend a hotel or hostel close to the Volkshaus Basel (Rebgasse 12-14, 4058 Basel). Public transport is free when staying in a hotel in Basel. Some public streetcars and buses run every half hour, even at night. The Claraplatz streetcar stop is right next to the Volkshaus Basel. In Basel, you usually need no more than 10-15 minutes to get from one place to another by public transport or bike sharing (first 30 minutes free).

Tips for eating

There are many delicious restaurants in Basel. Here is a small selection of our favorite restaurants with great food and very friendly service. Most of them are even represented two or three times in Basel and are close to the venues. There are also numerous buvettes (small cafés with sandwiches) near the Rhine.

  1. Klara: Nine kitchens and a bar. Guaranteed something for every taste. Tibits: Buffet with changing vegan and vegetarian dishes.

  2. Agora Market: Very tasty and substantial kebab, vegan options also available.

  3. Za Zaa: Lebanese mezze with hot and cold dishes to share or enjoy alone. Vegan or vegetarian.

  4. Vegitat: Delicious and healthy vegan kebabs and cigköfte.

  5. Bakery Kult: Very popular local bakery with sandwiches and delicious pastries for breaks. Close to the Rhine.

  6. Boo: Thai cuisine. Our favorites: Pad Thai Tofu or Spicy Peanut Curry.

  7. Market hall: around 30 different food vendors. Uncomplicated and delicious.

  8. Cafe Frühling: coffee specialties, delicious breakfast and brunch. Now also directly at the SBB station.
