Inspired by the wild, sizzling sounds of Harlem and Chicago jazz from the 1930s and ’40s, The Big Five have established themselves as Berlin’s most authentic Swing-era ensemble. With a driving rhythm section, a fiery horn section, and dynamic song arrangements, this international Band delves deep into the lesser-known repertoire of the Golden Age of Swing—while also placing a strong emphasis on original compositions.

Veterans of Berlin's famous Lindy Hop and Balboa dance clubs, the Big Five know how to turn a mellow dance party into a raging frenzy of swing-out. With their sharp duds and an intense passion for authentic swing-era jazz, these guys are sure to get you dancing!

The Daniel Duspiwa Quartet is made for the dance floor from the ground up. Led by Daniel Duspiwa, whose unmistakable saxophone sound is well known from The Big Five, the Band combines the tradition of vintage swing with a fresh, energetic touch.

At the center of the group is the warm, powerful voice of the Hammond organ, which is played with soulful intensity by Carlos Santana and gives the quartet a rich harmonic foundation that is rarely heard in such a compact line-up.
The groove foundation is provided by Malte Tönißen on bass and Leo Gerstner on drums, a rhythm team that is tight, driving and irresistibly danceable.
