  • Collegiate shag originated in the 1930s and was popular with college kids during the jazz and swing era. It is characterized by hops and kicks and the basic 6-count slow-slow-quick-quick step. The exact origin story is unclear, but the fun is undeniable! Collegiate Shag Videos.

St. Louis Shag originated in the mid-1930s in St. Louis, Missouri. It has an 8-count basic step and many rhythmic variations with kicks, stomps, cross-overs, quick steps and brush steps. Historically, St. Louis Shag was not an independent dance, but an element of the Lindy Hop or Jitterbug style. Guaranteed to be a great addition to your repertoire! St. Louis Shag videos.

As descendants of the Charleston and Jig Trott, shag dances can be traced back to African-American dance traditions. Individuality, improvisation and teamwork play a major role in shag dances.

Shag is guaranteed to bring momentum into your life!
